Beer and Food, a perfect match?
By | Posted: October 8, 2009
In our Love Beer research, 76% of you said you prefer to drink wine at dinner parties. Using wine to compliment food has been a long tradition – most know the basic rules (white with chicken and fish, red with beef), and some of you may have even consulted a sommelier in a restaurant to find the right wine to drink your meal. But have you ever matched beer with your food and would you believe that beer is often a better pair with food than wine?
Here at BitterSweet we think beer and food are the best of friends. Beer has a much wider range of flavours than any other drink and you can find one to perfectly match just about everything. Most people know that beer is great with a pizza or a curry but what about a fruit beer with chocolate or a porter with a rib eye steak?
We were really excited to find a website about just this – Great Brewers’ Beer Sommelier suggests a type of beer to suit what you’re eating, whether it’s lobster or baked beans. You can even use it on your phone, with the Google Android app available now and the iPhone app to follow.
If you knew more about what kinds of beer go with which foods, would you be more likely to drink it with your meal?
